The Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny – Bangalore Province warmly welcome you to discover our life, mission, and the spirit that drives our work. Rooted in faith and guided by love, we continue the inspiring vision of our Foundress, Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey, who established the Congregation in 1807 in France.
Our charism calls us to:
  • Deepen and share the faith,
  • Provide value-based education for the young,
  • Care for the poor, the marginalized, the orphaned, the elderly and the sick.

Cluny Across the World 🌍

Today, Cluny is a global family of over 2,600 Sisters, present in 56 countries across five continents. Our sisters hail from around 60 different nations, united in a shared mission of service and empowerment.

Cluny in India 🇮🇳

The Congregation set foot in India in 1827, beginning in Pondicherry, and since then has flourished across the country, now comprising six Provinces. The Bangalore Province, carved out and Founded in 1948 became a Province in 1977, our family now has 138 dedicated Sisters in 22 vibrant communities, reaching out through education, healthcare, social outreach, and pastoral ministry.

Inspired by the Gospel and guided by the legacy of Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey, we dedicate our lives to serving those on the margins of society. Whether it’s empowering the poor, uplifting women, nurturing the young, accompanying the lonely, or caring for the sick and elderly, our mission is to bring the values of love, dignity, and hope to life. Through our presence, prayer, and tireless service, we strive to be a beacon of light in dark places, standing with the vulnerable and speaking for the voiceless.
